What’s Pressure Die Casting?

Die-casting is a universal, efficient and economical process for manufacturing engineering metal parts, which is suitable for mass production. Die casting materials can be aluminum alloy, zinc alloy and magnesium alloy.

 

Die casting process

During the die-casting process, a die casting machine is installed on the mold. Molten metal liquid is injected into the die under high pressure. The die solidifies the liquid metal in the die through cooling, and finally the die is opened to push the product out of the mold cavity.

The life of die casting mould is related to its material, so we analyze, design and choose steel for product after getting its drawing. Temperature difference would effect the mold working. Therefore, the mold can be usable after steel material heat treatment.

 

Die casting material

Aluminum alloy: It is suitable for high strength, complex structure but light products and aluminum has good corrosion resistance and mechanical properties, high thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity. Due to its superior mechanical properties, aluminum die casting is one of the largest mass production products in metal industry. Zinc alloy: zinc alloy is easy to cast with low melting point and long die life. Zinc alloy die casting is mainly used for high ductility parts requiring electroplating. Magnesium alloy: it is the lightest metal among the practical metals, with high strength, large elastic modulus, good heat dissipation, good shock absorption, better impact load bearing capacity than aluminum alloy, and good corrosion resistance to organic and alkali. Magnesium alloy die casting is used for light components with high strength to weight ratio.
